A Guide to Sizing Unisex Streetwear (Hoodies, Tees & Polos)

Unisex sizing is one of the most common reasons for a return that's otherwise easy to avoid — not because the sizing is unpredictable, but because it's a genuinely different starting point to standard men's or women's cuts, and most people size it the same way out of habit.

Why unisex sizing runs differently

Unisex garments are built on a single block designed to sit well across a wider range of body shapes, rather than a fitted men's block or a narrower women's block. In practice, this usually means:

  • Slightly boxier through the body than a fitted women's tee, and slightly roomier through the shoulders than a slim men's cut
  • A straighter hem and silhouette, rather than tapering at the waist
  • Consistent sizing across genders — a unisex Medium is the same garment regardless of who's wearing it, rather than a men's Medium and women's Medium being cut differently

This is why the general rule of thumb is: if you normally wear a fitted women's Small, a unisex Small or even an XS will likely run roomier than expected; if you normally wear a standard men's Medium, unisex sizing usually tracks close to true to size.

Sizing our graphic tees

Our tees, including the Fish Art Graphic Tee, use a relaxed unisex fit — intentionally roomier than a fitted tee so the graphic sits flat rather than stretching. If you prefer a closer fit, size down; if you like an oversized, streetwear-style drape, true to size or up.

Sizing our hoodies

Hoodies are the garment most people over-size by default, assuming "bigger is cosier." Our Pricks No.7 Hoodie is already cut with a relaxed unisex fit, so sizing up on top of that usually results in sleeves that run long and a hem that sits lower than intended. True to size is the safer starting point unless you specifically want an oversized look.

Sizing our polos

Unlike our tees and hoodies, the Fairway Polo is built with a golf-specific fit — closer through the body to allow a full swing without excess fabric bunching. Size this one closer to your usual fitted-shirt size rather than your usual hoodie or tee size.

When in doubt

Check the specific measurements in our Unisex Tee Sizing Guide, Hoods & Sweats Sizing Guide or Golf Sizing Guide for polos before ordering, especially if you're between two sizes or buying as a gift without being able to try it on the recipient. It's a two-minute check that avoids most returns.
