How to style a graphic tee | Sharp by Design

A bold graphic tee is one piece of clothing, but it behaves like a centrepiece — get the rest of the outfit wrong and it looks like you're trying too hard. Get it right and the tee does the work while everything else stays out of the way.
The one-statement rule
If the tee has a large or bold graphic — like our Fish Art Graphic Tee — treat it as the loudest thing in the outfit and build everything else around it quietly. Plain jeans or shorts, a neutral cap, simple shoes. The mistake most people make is pairing a statement tee with statement everything else — patterned shorts, a busy cap, bold shoes — and the whole outfit competes with itself instead of working together.
Fit matters more than the print
A graphic tee that's too tight distorts the print and reads as trying to show off; too loose and the design gets lost in fabric. Our tees run a relaxed unisex fit specifically so the graphic sits flat and reads clearly rather than stretching across the chest. If you're between sizes, check the Unisex Tee Sizing Guide before you order.
Layering without hiding the design
If it's cooler, an open shirt or jacket over a graphic tee works — just make sure enough of the print is visible that it's still doing something. A cropped or open jacket over the Fish Art Tee keeps the design visible while adding a layer.
Dressing it up slightly
Graphic tees don't have to stay casual-only. Tucked into tailored trousers or paired with a structured jacket, a bold tee reads as intentional rather than just off-duty. This works best with simpler, single-focus graphics rather than busy, all-over prints — one clean image, not a collage.
Building a rotation
Rather than buying five tees with similarly busy graphics, mix intensity: one or two bold statement pieces, and a couple of simpler designs you can wear more often without it feeling repetitive. Browse our Graphic Streetwear & Tees, or pair a tee with a neutral black golf trucker hat for an easy everyday combination.
